HOW TO CLEAN THE BASIC PARTS OF A PERSONAL COMPUTER

INTRODUCTION

Computer system cleaning is very important for us to get the maximum results out of our various gadgets and also play a key role in computer system maintenance. Now if we want to clean there are various ways to do that and there are steps we must follow.

CASE (COVER)

The case is the first component noticed by everyone, for this reason your computer/gadget case has to be good looking. A neat computer case ensures a good air flow to the computer and keeps other component cool and in perfect working condition.

PROCEDURE

As we all know the computer case is made up of plastic and it is the house to all the PC/GADGET component. it can be cleaned with a lint-free cloth that has being slightly dampened with water.

Some stains might be a little bit tough, in that case, you can add little detergent to the cloth.

Make sure all vents and air holes are hair and lint free, by rubbing the cloth over the holes and vents. It is also advisable to take a vacuum around the hole, vents, and crevices on the computer.

[A Standard vacuum is safe for the external vents, but if you need to clean the inner parts of a computer you have to use a portable vacuum.

KEYBOARD

As the name implies the keyboard is a board of keys ( alphabets, symbols and controls). The keyboard is the most infected item in our homes and offices when talking about gadgets and other computer components. It is often filled with dusts and infected with bacteria. The build up of hair and dusts can alter the proper functioning of the keyboard.

PROCEDURE

Before attempting to clean the keyboard the computer must be switched off in case of a laptop and if it is a USB keyboard, it must be detached. if you don't follow the above instruction, you might end up pressing some keys and perform some operations you don't want to perform.

Many people clean the keyboard by turning it upside and shaking. The most effective method is the use of “compressed air”.

Compressed air is pressurized air contained in a can with a very long nozzle. Aim the air between the keys and blow away all dustsand debris that has gathered there. To make sure that the keys doesn’t lose “pop off” keys, a vacuum cleaner can also be used. “never spray any liquid onto the keyboard”

CAUTION: If you mistakenly spill anything unto the keyboard (coke, water, pop), if the appropriate steps are not taken, the keyboard can end up damaged.

PROCEDURE

You have to turn your pc off/ disconnect your keyboard from power source in case of liquid spillage, turn the keyboard upside down to prevent penetration of the liquid substance, carefully shake the keyboard over a surface that can be cleaned later, while the keyboard is still upside down, clean out what can be reached with the best of your ability, finally leave the keyboard upside down for at least a night for it to dry.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

The LCD is the technology used for displays in notebook and other smaller computers. without the screen/LCD nothing will be displayed or seen, in view of this it is a very important component to be taken care of. Dirt, Dust and finger prints have negative effect on the readability of the LCD.

PROCEDURE

To clean the LCD, we highly recommend that you use non-rugged microfiber cloth, soft cotton cloth or swiffer duster. If a dry cloth doesn't clean the screen completely, you can wipe the screen with a damp cloth.

CAUTION: Do not apply so much pressure or force when wiping the screen.

Do not spray any form of liquid directly to the screen.
